The Transformation Station

The Transformation Station is an interactive artwork converts negative thoughts written on paper into material goodness for the environment.

Visitors contribute their negative thoughts by writing or drawing them on the provided paper. Contributions are shredded on the spot and get held in the “Bad Thoughts Box.” The shredded negativity provides food and bedding for composting worms. The worms digest and convert the thoughts into worm castings, one of the best known and most effective fertilizers.

The Transformation Station was selected by the City of San Jose for their Creative Ambassador 2022 program. Partnering with Veggielution, the Station (and the worms) will travel around San Jose bringing the experience “into the field.”

Where to see the Transformation Station in 2023:

August 12-13, 11-5pm, San Jose Museum of Art Community Festival, 110 S. Market St., San Jose 95113
