Open Ground: Valley of Heart's Delighted 2017-2018
This project is a composite portrait of the City of San Jose, told over the span of a year using the city's own plant waste. Beginning in June, 2017, each month brought me to a new neighborhood to collect yard waste from the ubiquitous piles that accumulate on our city streets. In addition to collecting the material which became the mark-making tools, I also collected impressions of each neighborhood, gleaning words and plants.
